Background
In 2008, NORDEN, for the first time, chose to participate in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the most comprehensive global mapping of corporations’ efforts to reduce emissions of the greenhouse gas CO2. CDP is a project driven by institutional investors where 2,500 organisations in more than 60 countries measure and disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and climate change strategies. The CDP project is backed by more than 534 investors, with a combined asset base of USD 64 trillion.
128 companies in the Nordic Region (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) responded to CDP’s 2009 survey – up from 110 in 2008 – including 27 Danish companies. Only three shipping companies based in the Nordic countries are participating.
NORDEN is participating in the CDP to inform its stakeholders about its efforts in the environmental area. NORDEN believes the participation helps to differentiate the product offering to the market and likewise helps to sharpen NORDEN's technical skill, attract good employees, save money on fuel and put NORDEN's values into practice.
