Denmark

The blue Denmark - World careers

NORDEN supports the activities of the Danish Shipowners’ Association in order to attract talented people to the shipping industry through the campaign ‘Det Blå Danmark’.

Save the Children Denmark

D/S Orients Fond continues to support Save the Children Denmark’s project in Somalia, which aims to create a sustainable and coherent education system by providing training adapted to the different age groups in Somaliland and Puntland. This project was first launched in 2009 in collaboration with the EU and other shipping companies. D/S NORDEN/D/S Orients Fond is the only shipping company, who is still involved in the project, and we are proud of the long-term and sustainable results that this collaboration has enabled for the local community in the region.

Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN)

D/S Orients Fond contributes funds to the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) earmarked to the Port Integrity and Efficiency project piloted by the MACN. The project aims to bridge the gaps identified in the Nigeria Risk Assessment Project conducted by MACN and UNDP in 2012-2013, which analysed corruption risk in 6 Nigerian ports.

Mission to Seafarers

D/S Orients Fond supports Sailors’ Society – an international maritime charity, which assists seafarers through a world-wide network of Seafarers’ Centers and Port Chaplains. The Fond purchased the Chaplain’s minibus in Subic Bay, Philippines, and provided 3 years of operating expenses for this bus as well as for a minibus already in use in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

China

Shanghai Maritime University

Since 2005, NORDEN has sponsored scholarships for 5 students and 2 teachers on an annual basis and conducted workshops for students on campus. These initiatives broaden the awareness of the career opportunities in NORDEN and within shipping in general and help us recruit top students for our trainee programme.
