Responsible Supply Chain Management
NORDEN collaborates with many suppliers and intermediaries who support our business around the world.
NORDEN makes use of the responsible supply chain management system IMPA ACT, which is a system run by the International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA) and developed as a collaboration between IMPA, NORDEN and the Danish shipowner J.Lauritzen.
The system is based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and includes additionally provisions on anti-corruption and environmental protection. The aim is that IMPA ACT with time becomes a maritime industry standard, and that a common approach in the maritime industry will ensure consistency and prevent that maritime suppliers are met with many different codes of conduct.
Every year, NORDEN engages with additional suppliers who are selected in alignment with a risk assessment that considers annual spend, dependency and frequency of interaction with the respective supplier. In dialogue with the supplier, NORDEN seeks to build capacity and improve performance within human rights, anti-corruption and environmental protection where relevant.
