Information meeting in February 2010

NORDEN hosted an information meeting (in Danish) about the shipping trainee programme on 9 February 2010. Did you miss it ? You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions about the shipping trainee programme.

The Shipping Trainee Programme

The practical part

As Shipping Trainee in NORDEN you spend twelve months in each of our two primary departments: Tankers and Dry Cargo. During the two years programme you also learn about our Technical department and our Bunker department (buying bunker oil for the vessels) and you will have one or two stays with a Port Captain or on board vessels sailing on various destinations. In the Tanker and Dry Cargo department you will typically get a thorough knowledge of operation and chartering. See more on selected job assignments

The theoretical part

Along with the practical assignments you take the first part of a graduate diploma in Business Administration at the Copenhagen Business School, CBS., where you will learn more about e.g. statistics, IT, economics and business finance. You will follow a specially designed shipping course in Esbjerg (five weeks in total during the two years), as well as courses in maritime law and English at the office in Hellerup.

We work closely together with a series of other large shipping companies on the theoretical part of the programme. Due to this, you will become part of a network with a lot of other trainees in the shipping industry.
